Remote Access

Managing Your Device from the Cloud

Pantahub is a cloud-based management platform that allows you to monitor, manage, and update your Pantavisor-enabled devices from anywhere in the world. By connecting your device to Pantahub, you gain access to powerful remote features like over-the-air (OTA) updates, remote logs, and fleet management.

1. Claiming Your Device

To manage a device remotely, you first need to “claim” it. This process securely links your physical device to your Pantahub account.

Retrieve Device Credentials

Connect to your device via Serial Port or SSH and run the following commands:

# Get the unique Device ID
cat /pv/device-id

# Get the Challenge Token
cat /pv/challenge

Claim on Pantahub

  1. Log in to your account at hub.pantacor.com.
  2. Navigate to the Devices section and click on Claim Device.
  3. Enter the Device ID and Challenge Token you retrieved earlier.
  4. Once claimed, your device will appear in your dashboard with an “Online” status (if it has internet access).

2. The Device Dashboard

The Pantahub dashboard provides a centralized view of your device’s state:

  • Status Monitoring: See if your device is online, its current IP address, and its uptime.
  • Remote Logs: View real-time system and container logs without needing physical or SSH access.
  • Metadata: Inspect and modify device metadata to store custom configurations or labels.
  • Revision History: Track all updates and changes made to the device over time.

3. Remote Updates (GitOps for IoT)

One of the most powerful features of Pantahub is the ability to update your device remotely using the same pvr workflow you use locally.

Remote Clone

Instead of cloning from a local IP, you can clone the device state directly from Pantahub:

pvr clone https://pvr.pantahub.com/yourusername/yourdevicename my-device
cd my-device

Remote Post

After making changes (adding apps or changing configs), you can “post” the update back to Pantahub:

pvr add .
pvr commit -m "Update application version"
pvr post

Pantahub will then securely deliver this new revision to your device over-the-air.
